About
Hi Folks.
This is Ash here, and I administer this web page and also write the transcripts.
Now, I know some of you are disappointed when you come to look for the latest episodes and find I haven’t got them up yet, so I thought I would write a little explanation.
See, this isn’t my full time job (no, duh!) It’s a hobby, or labour of love, call it what you will. Either way, while I do get donations, and I’m very grateful for them, I get maybe one or two a month and they are usually about enough to buy myself a beer or two, not to put a roof over my head and dinner on the table. In fact, that’s how I look at the donation thing, that it’s people saying, hey, that guy puts a lot of work into this and I get enjoyment out of it, I’d like to buy him a beer.
Anyway, for a living, I am actually a performer. (Actor, comedian, writer). This means that, as with any professional performer, the Christmas period, starting around the beginning of December, is one of my busiest times of the year. Also, I need a new show each year, and it has to be ready for the Summer season, so I start working on writing it usually around February time and that is my priority for the next three or four months. And then the Summer season itself is again very busy.
So you see that really, September through November and a little period around the end of January, beginning of February, are my quiet down times and the time I get the most done in terms of this site. I try, the rest of the time, to stay as up to date as possible, and try never to be more than four or five episodes behind the telly, but sometimes it’s just not possible and I fall further behind than that.
I’m glad people like the site, and it seems like they do. I get around two to two and a half thousand hits a day currently, which is not huge in the grander scheme of things, but a lot more than I expected when I started the site. I hope you all keep coming back, and I will try my best to keep it as up to date as possible. But when I don’t, try not to give me a hard time, okay?
thank you for your updates, but in africa there is no money to send to the 1st class countries. so am sorry but can you put up the script for season 2 episode 13, the friendship algorithm episode

Hey, i love this site. I really was looking for the BBT transcripts. Are you planning to go on with season 4 ?
xav said this on November 3, 2010 at 12:34 pm |
I am going to complain about this site. It is a disgrace to have well written scripts shamelessly copied here without permission of the author.
Anti Pirate said this on December 11, 2010 at 1:15 pm |
Yawn at AntiPirate go and bore someone else.
Absolutely fantastic job Ash, you should write to CBS/ Chuck Lorre and see if they plan to release the scripts in a hardback book – there are plenty of people here who would recommend you for the job
David Goff said this on August 31, 2012 at 6:19 pm |
Hi there Anti Pirate
Firstly, I’m pretty sure the powers that be at CBS will have already found this site for themselves. They’re pretty on the ball about that kind of thing. So if they’re not worried about it, you probably should’t be either. If they ever wrote and asked me to take it down, I would.
Secondly, what you have here is not something “shamelessly copied.” I started this site because these transcripts were not available elsewhere. But it’s not like there’s anyone out there who is going to read this site instead of watching the series. It is merely a resource for people who want to refresh their memory, remember their favourite bits, or maybe check what was said when they didn’t quite catch it for themselves.
Sites like these exist for most successful, and even unsuccessful TV series, usually started by fans as a resource for fans. And the TV companies are generally fine about it, because they know that far from taking anything away from the series, they are labours of love, and that they help spread the love for the show.
The “authors”, meanwhile, are a team of staff writers who don’t really care about their work being copied here. They have moved on, their work is already out there in the form of a TV show, and they have been paid, and continue to be paid each time the show is repeated or goes into syndication. They are losing nothing, and I am gaining nothing, through this site (the few donations made so far do not even begin to cover the amount of time and effort put into the making of it.)
This site is a tribute to a great show, and an attempt by one fan who wished there was a resource like this out there, to provide it for any others who might have wished the same. If you can’t see it that way, I suggest you have a far too paranoid view of the world.

Big bang theory is one of my favorite shows and it’s so cool to be able to look back and notice things I didn’t see in the show. It must have taken so much time to put all this up but I do hope you will add new episodes. Thank you!

In s01e01 you wrote:
… defined constellations and the time of your birth …
I think it should rather be:
… defined constellations at the time of your birth …
Except from that, the transcription looks very accurate to me. Thank you for all this good work.

Hi, I wanna point out that the Hindi on the transcript for “The Vengeance Formulation” that Raj says is inaccurate. What Raj said was “आज नई अच्छा संगीत घर”, which, on Google, translates (“Today’s new good music home”) and sounds extremely close to what he says in the show.
Note that I myself don’t actually speak Hindi, but it took me a while to get the accurate translation, so I’d thought I’d point it out. Love your site, keep it going!
Source: Google Translate (http://translate.google.com/#auto|hi|Today’s%20new%20good%20music%20home)
judacris said this on August 12, 2011 at 5:30 am |
@judacris What Raj said was this “आज के नये अच्छे संगीत का घर”.
I know hindi and so i thought of making a correction.
Google translation would mean “Today’s new home of good music”.
But actual meaning is “Home of new and good music”.
Thanks a lot Ash for the transcripts. My english is not so good to catch everything said in TBBT at one go. Transcripts really help.
manish said this on January 18, 2012 at 3:07 pm |
Correction: This would be better translation “Home of today’s new good music”.

Hi BigBangTrans,
I’m really glad to have found this site because your transcripts truly help me understand what was being said and allow me to search about the bombastic terminologies used by the main characters.
I just want to express my appreciation for your painstaking effort in typing everything out. Thanks!!

I would like to quote from one of your transcripts for my essay on technology. Could you please tell me who I should put down as the ‘author’? Any name of your choice will do, of course.
Thank you.
Silvia said this on January 13, 2012 at 6:21 pm |
Hi Silvia. I am not the author of these, I merely transcribe them. To find out the author of any given episode, go onto wikipedia, look up the list of episodes and it should tell you on there who the writers were.
Ash said this on January 15, 2012 at 12:01 am |
Do you have any theories why CBS (and rights holders of other shows) don’t post transcripts on their own websites? After all, many post video of full episodes after they air. If they have no problem with the material being freely available, it would be simple for them to post the transcripts and derive the small benefit from any additional web traffic.
Shelby said this on January 23, 2012 at 7:30 am |
Thank you for this fantastic archive of transcriptions. On the few occasions that I have had to transcribe anything, it took me ages (and was kind of mind numbing) so kudos to you for putting in so much work to this. A labour of love indeed!

I don’t know much about blogging, but I was wondering if there is any way to add a search tool to your site? That is, if I had a quote that I knew was from TBBT but I didn’t remember which episode, it would be extremely useful to be able to search for that quote that would search all episodes you have transcripts for, and then have that page show up and tell me the episode name and number! This site is great, keep up the excellent work 🙂

Awesome site. Is there any way you’d be able to make a packet for a download of each script in one big folder? I work at a TV station that shows this show in syndication and I was wanting a reference point (which you have awesomely provided) to make a spot with the characters saying our call letters & number. If not, it’s cool. The search took works good enough. Thanks for your work and time.

Hello, I just wanted to point out a mistake in transcript for Werewolf transformation – S5 E18.
The portion where Raj And Howard argue about the time on the letter, its 0800, and not Oh eight hundred. Similarily, raj says “There is no 0 here”, not Oh.
And btw, awesome transcripts. Thanks
Sonic boom said this on March 25, 2012 at 12:59 pm |
Hi there Sonic Boom.
Just to be clear, I am aware that he meant the number rather than the word “oh”. However, the number 0 can be said many ways, so I used the phonetic “oh” in the transcript to make it clear that that was how it was being pronounced, rather than zero or any other way that it can be said.

Hey, as a passionate linguist who likes learning all the new words and phrases they use I really like the transcripts but if you have enough spare time, go back and check the grammar of some parts, it’s 95% ok but the site would be much better if you proofread some parts. Nevertheless I realise that it’s an indispensable site which I really appreciate and enjoy using.
Dominic Lucey said this on May 26, 2015 at 1:43 pm |
Hi Dominic – I simply transcribe the words used in the show. I am therefore not in charge of grammar. I am a professional writer myself, but the fact is that if they use poor grammar in the show, it will show up in the transcripts. Nothing I can do about that.

Thanks for this site! It’s really useful to read it while watching the dubbed version, as some jokes get lost in translation.
You asked for a transcription of the German lyrics in S10E20:
Weiches Kätzchen, warmes Kätzchen, das nie und nimmer murrt.
Liebes Kätzchen, müdes Kätzchen, schnurrt, schnurrt, schnurrt.
Literal translation:
Soft kitty, warm kitty that never ever grumbles.
Dear kitty, tired kitty, purrs, purrs, purrs.
She sings with a very strong accent. Had to listen 3 times to get “schnurrt”, and got “murrt” only because it’s supposed to rhyme. Both are pronounced wrong, but the same way wrong so they rhyme again: Really the “u” sound should be similar to the “u” in the English word “full”. The way she sings it sounds like “müd'” (tire; makes no sense as the second line says the kitty *is* tired) and “schnöd” (despicable; very old-fashioned German word; makes no sense here at all).
Interestingly, the German dubbing of the show, whenever the songs appears, uses quite different lyrics and melody (based on this song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=krt7CQ4nv5A but also not quite the same), and in this episode, when Sheldon asks for the German version, in the German dubbing he asks for a badly dubbed version instead (rather than another language such as French as they usually do in such cases), and Amy sings the German version above, though with some more words stuffed in, so they lose lip-sync. No idea why; it’s crazy!
